Job Summary
Position: Supervising Trades – Shipbuilding (full-time, multiple shifts). No travel or telework. Relocation assistance not available. U.S. citizenship not required.
Responsibilities
Supervise, assign, coordinate and evaluate semi‑skilled and skilled trades personnel.
Train employees to improve quality and quantity of work; recommend and help develop training programs.
Create actionable plans from broad strategies and ensure employees are trained to execute them.
Ensure compliance with all technical aspects, including adherence to drawings and procedures.
Manage manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations with significant financial impact.
Supervise qualified trades staff and monitor job and budget performance for all shifts.
Qualifications
BS/Apprentice qualification OR four years of combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, and military experience.
Associate degree in a trade/technical field AND three years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade, or military experience.
Internal candidates must have a superior attendance and disciplinary record: no more than three unexcused absences in the last 180 days; no safety DANS that result in disciplinary layoff; no more than two total DANS (excluding lost tool) in the last 180 days.
Must be able to supervise the work of others, motivate and train employees, and possess strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Must have thorough technical knowledge of the trade in the area of responsibility; a minimum of three years of trade experience if no apprentice certificate.
Exposure to production planning and support functions preferred.
Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned.
Strong working knowledge of machinery ship construction processes (nice to have).
Depending on the assigned area, specific technical, medical, and physical requirements may apply.
