Job Overview
The position of Nurse Practitioner II in UCI School of Medicine Specialty Care Associates provides advanced nursing care within the Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. The role is practiced under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit and follows the applicable policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in ambulatory and inpatient settings, delivering multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education and monitoring.
Perform class II privileges, including central line administration, abdominal paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, and arterial line placement after successful proctoring.
Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and perform approved medical and surgical procedures within the scope of practice.
Communicate with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team to facilitate care and discharge planning.
Document patient progress, laboratory data, and clinical notes in a clear, accurate manner.
Maintain quality of care standards, follow up on feedback from supervising physicians and comply with privacy, confidentiality, and security policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Current active unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
Current active unrestricted Fitting license and DEA registration.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) and National Board Certification (Family/Individual FNP‑BC or FNP‑C, or Adult Gerontology Acute Care NC‑BC/ACNPC‑AG).
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Minimum 6 months of NP experience; preferred multi‑lingual skills.
Ability to obtain UC‑IMC Allied Health Professional privileges before hire.
Strong communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the program and UCI Health System.
Effective customer‑service orientation and ability to adapt in high‑pressure environments.
