Perinatal Sonographer

Job Requirements
The Perinatal Sonographer provides safe and effective ultrasound services to OB/GYN patients, performs and interprets ultrasounds, collaborates with physicians to develop final diagnostic impressions, and documents all procedures according to policy.

Collaborate with patients, significant others, physicians, and ancillary departments to form a multidisciplinary health‑care team that delivers continuous, well‑coordinated care.

Communicate ultrasound results and care plans efficiently to referring physicians.

Perform standard and specialized perinatal ultrasound procedures, including anatomic surveys, nuchal translucency measurements, Doppler exams, 3D/4D scans, and guidance during invasive procedures.

Document all procedures accurately and maintain high‑quality patient imaging records.

Provide comprehensive patient care—obtain history, educate patients, assess risk factors, and comply with infection control, ALARA, and safety protocols.

Respond promptly to requests from L&D, antepartum, and postpartum units.

Operate and maintain imaging equipment safely, manage supplies, report malfunctions, and ensure safe handling of hazardous materials.

Work Experience

Vocational/Technical Degree (Required)

Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certifications & Licensures

BLS Certification (Required)

NT Nuchal Translucency Certification (Required)

RDMS OB/GYN (Required)

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Required)

Skills

At least 1 year of sonography experience (Required)

Experience performing advanced Doppler exams (middle cerebral artery, umbilical cord artery, ductus venosus, uterine arteries) (Required)

Experience performing 3D/4D exams (Required)

Experience guiding physicians during invasive procedures (Required)

Prior experience in perinatal sonography (Required)
