is seeking a motivated
GI Operating Room Nurse
to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms and 3 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, General, GI, GYN, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call.
Some later evenings required.
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for planning, executing, directing and evaluating direct and indirect nursing care given to endoscopy patient. The nursing care ranges from preoperative intervention, intraoperative and postoperative evaluation while meeting the patient’s needs and ensuring continuity of care.
Responsibilities
Perform all nursing duties in accordance with the state Nursing Practice Act, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
Actively demonstrate a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice in order to care for the patient.
Perform routine nursing care while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times Monitor patient progress and identify any changes in status, acting on those changes to insure patient comfort and safety.
Assist physicians and all healthcare professionals caring for patient, always giving a complete and thorough report on patient status throughout procedure process.
Communicate with all staff, patients, and families with excellent written and verbal skills.
Consistently seek educational tools in order to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, diseases, and best practices.
Collaborate with the Infection Control Committee in preventing and identifying potential for infections.
Support and demonstrate continuous improvement of quality and service excellence.
May perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Must have currently TX state license.
BLS, ACLS required (must have current ACLS or achieve within 6 months of hire).
