General Adult Outpatient Therapist - Clinical Instructor

Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full‑time, fixed‑term clinical instructor. The successful candidate will work in the primary outpatient clinic in Chapel Hill, delivering psychotherapy to a general adult population. The role is hybrid, providing in‑person and telehealth appointments. Clinical responsibilities include psychotherapy delivery for common mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and other psychiatric conditions. Screening and assessment of new patients may be required. No on‑call is associated with this position.

Primary Responsibilities

Deliver psychotherapy to diverse adults in the outpatient setting.

Conduct intake and comprehensive assessments as needed.

Develop person‑centered treatment plans with measurable goals.

Provide clinical consultation and support to team members.

Maintain timely documentation in the electronic health record and bill appropriately.

Attend supervision, staff meetings, in‑service trainings, and other meetings as required.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Social Work or a related health field.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Experience providing psychotherapy to a diverse population.

Fully licensed clinicians preferred; provisionally licensed clinicians (LCSW, LCSW‑A, LMFT, LMFT‑A, LCMHC, LCMHC‑A) will be considered.
