Job Description
Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and customer‑needs solving capability to maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of all efforts and operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc., to meet or exceed those objectives.

Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns, consistently generating logical and reasonable calls to action to close every sales call.

Proactively and continuously serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.

Develop and execute call plans that achieve set metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers, maximizing access and sales opportunities.

Continuously build understanding of customer needs, expected territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, key accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise, and share this intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team and sales manager to align strategy, anticipate changes, and optimize brand execution.

Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers and identify, develop and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field; or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, minimum five (5) years of industry experience with at least three (3) years in the pharmaceutical/health/science sector, plus a high school diploma or GED required.

Proactively identifies customer style/behavior, adapts quickly to all aspects of the selling approach, and operates effectively in a matrix environment.

Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills. Offers innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities.

Demonstrates in‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource. Strong business acumen, proficient use of business tools, strategic and critical thinking capabilities, and a capacity to influence others and build collaborative partnerships.

Must meet health‑care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases, and maintain good standing to access facilities and organizations.

Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within relevant therapeutic areas; commercial pharmaceutical experience such as physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care or marketing preferred. Proficiency in English, both verbal and written.

The compensation range described below reflects the range of possible base pay based on the job grade for this role. Actual compensation depends on factors such as geographic location and may be higher or lower than the posted range and may change over time.

This position is eligible to participate in short‑term incentive programs.
