Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Nurses in the Care Center, the LPN Floor Supervisor will assist the DON and ADON with planning, coordinating, and managing the LPN clinical services for residents, and implement care as necessary and in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Position communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. The position requires self‑motivation, creativity, and the ability to function in a semi‑autonomous role within a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.

Standards of Performance

Assist in emergencies, including assessing the resident, notifying the physician and family members, and documenting.

Assist with staff orientation.

Supervise and counsel nursing staff, both autonomously and in collaboration with the RN Supervisor and DON.

Answer the telephone and respond to call lights when LPNs are administering medications or when necessary.

Report any equipment malfunction or supply shortage.

Assist with scheduling when needed to cover openings.

Assist with continuing education and in‑services for staff.

Ensure residents receive proper care in a timely manner.

Ensure residents are in the dining room on time, that LPNs assist, supervise, and monitor meals, and that residents requiring assistance receive it.

Leave a written report for the Director of Nursing – Care Center regarding problems with residents, staff, or residents’ families, including a record of interactions.

Maintain competency as an LPN Charge Nurse and assist on the floor as required.

Keep the LPN/CNA staff updated on new initiatives.

Monitor LPN staff and their teams to assure all resident care is performed appropriately and timely.

Complete other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Minimum Level of Education:

Completion of high school and/or completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse training program.

Formal Training:

Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

Must have and maintain an unencumbered Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse license and Basic Life Support CPR certification.

Work Experience:

One to two years of related experience and/or training preferred.
