Job Details
The role involves assisting physicians with minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, maintaining a sterile field, monitoring patient vital signs, administering and monitoring contrast media, ensuring radiation safety, troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating with radiologists and nursing staff.
Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
Valid ARRT or RCIS/RCES certification in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Valid Radiologic Technologist license in the state
PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
Other certifications or licenses as required for the position
Essential Work Functions
Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures
Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures
Manage and restock procedural supplies (catheters, guidewires, contrast agents)
Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members for seamless patient care
Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
Adhere to hospital safety protocols and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking and excellent interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in English and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
PC skills
Physical ability to remain in a stationary position, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
Professionalism and positive attitude when working with diverse personnel
Fine motor skills for manipulation during procedures and equipment handling
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and irregular schedules
Visual acuity and effective communication abilities
