Health Service Administrator – This posting is open exclusively to current AL DOC incumbent employees.
NaphCare is hiring an experienced and motivated Health Services Administrator (HSA) to join our team of medical professionals in the Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs, Alabama.
As the Health Services Administrator (HSA) for NaphCare, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to direct the business and operational side of the medical units within the facility(s), ensuring the medical operations are well managed and staff are meeting NaphCare policies, guidelines, and expectations.
Responsibilities
The Health Services Administrator (HSA) is responsible for financial management, compliance with regulations, staff supervision, and optimizing patient care to ensure our patients in residence receive quality care that protects their rights, dignity, and health. Additional duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:
Providing daily oversight of clinical operations with the medical, mental health, dental and allied health services for the residents
Making clinical rounds, managing nursing services, ensuring nursing staff are responsive to patients in our care
Supervising, coaching, and troubleshooting with staff to support the team and create a cohesive work environment
Hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff, including nurses and administrative personnel.
Performing administrative duties such as scheduling, record-keeping, budgets, financial reports, planning, forecasting and developing corrective action plans to ensure contractual obligations are met
Assuring clinical quality standards and expectations are set and monitored through a clinical performance and review process
Facilitating staff training and development activities including coordinating in-service training for jail staff
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, regulatory requirements, and legally mandated training requirements for nursing services
Qualifications
Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements
Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the State
Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Two years' experience in health services administration related to comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional health care or acute care setting
Ability to manage budgets, analyze contracts, manage complex staffing matrices between medical and mental health teams
Proficiency in medical software, EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, and financial software.
Excellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex Human Resource issues and challenges
Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
