With two retail showrooms in Connecticut, we offer expert sales, installation, and service for wood, gas, pellet, and electric hearth products. Our service and installation team plays a vital role in delivering quality workmanship and an excellent customer experience.

Job Summary
Black Swan is growing and in need of a motivated Service Technician & Installer Helper to join our installation and service team. Our in-house training program will teach you how to install wood, pellet, and gas heating appliances into our customers’ homes, from framing to finishing work. You will also learn how to perform technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance on these units.

This is a dream job for someone who enjoys hands-on work that blends manual labor with problem solving. You’ll work alongside skilled installers and service technicians to learn industry’s best practices, ensure job site safety, and deliver top-notch results for our customers, gaining skills that can lead to a long-term career in the hearth industry.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the installation of fireplaces, stoves, and inserts, including framing, venting, finishing work, and final detailing

Support service technicians with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs

Load and unload trucks with equipment, tools, and materials for each job

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment on job sites and in the warehouse

Follow instructions from lead installers and service technicians to ensure efficient, high-quality work

Learn and follow safety protocols and building code requirements

Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively

Work on ladders and roofs for installation or service work

Drive company service vans and box trucks to job sites

Communicate with customers in a professional, courteous manner

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights on ladders and roofs

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Basic construction or carpentry experience is a plus, but we value positive, intelligent, and hard-working individuals above all

Experience in construction, carpentry, or HVAC is a plus but not required
