Position Summary
The Clinical Coordinator, Nursing is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations, coordinating patient care activities, and supporting nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role serves as a clinical resource and leader, facilitating communication among interdisciplinary teams and ensuring adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily unit operations and ensure optimal patient flow and throughput
Coordinate and assign nursing staff based on patient acuity and unit needs
Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff
Serve as a resource for complex clinical situations and patient care escalation
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
Monitor patient care delivery to ensure compliance with clinical standards and policies
Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges in collaboration with care management
Promote patient safety, satisfaction, and quality outcomes
Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives
Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation
Support staff education, onboarding, and competency validation
Assist in resolving patient, family, and staff concerns in a professional manner
Maintain communication with leadership regarding unit operations and issues
Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
BSN required (MSN preferred)
Licensure & Certifications:
Active RN license (New York State)
BLS required
ACLS and PALS preferred/required (depending on unit)
Specialty certification (preferred)
Experience:
3–5 years of clinical nursing experience (ED, critical care, or med/surg preferred)
Prior leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred
Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, patient safety, and regulatory standards
Skills:
Leadership and team coordination
Strong clinical judgment and decision-making
Effective communication and conflict resolution
Organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in electronic medical records and documentation systems
