Overview
The Prince William Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Correctional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who desires to join our healthcare team. The Correctional LPN provides high-quality nursing care to incarcerated individuals within a secure correctional environment. This role supports daily clinical operations, ensures patient safety, and promotes compliance with facility, state, and federal healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

Perform direct patient care tasks, including administering medication and treatments under direction; making and applying surgical dressings; taking and recording vital signs; and assisting patients with physical therapy and/or personal hygiene.

Assess patient?s status by interviewing; collecting and interpreting health histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information; counseling and educating patients about drug regimens and possible side effects.

Maintain complete and detailed records of patients' health care plans, services rendered and case histories; receive and distribute lab results; documents injuries in applicable reports; ensures compliance with applicable protocols.

Consult and collaborate with medical providers to maintain and update patient medical files and histories; ensure continuation of patient care.

Provide emergency intervention and care related to patient health needs.

Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Degree or diploma from a state approved professional nursing program

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of related experience

Practical Nurse License

CPR/First Aid Certification

Valid Driver’s License - Any offer of employment is contingent upon favorable review of applicant's driving record.

Must pass background investigation. This includes checks of the following: criminal record, education, professional licensure and employment

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an inherently stressful environment and involves risk to personal safety with possible exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.

This position typically requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions and intense noises.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Exemplary customer service.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through effective interaction with coworkers, supervisors, inmates, and the general public, with the ability to clearly exchange information and receive direction.

Provide healthcare services, utilizing nursing principles and practices.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Perform medical testing.

Follow medication protocols.

Prepare and maintain patient records and information using recordkeeping principles.

Use computers and related software applications including data entry.

Hourly Hiring Range

$40.50 - $44.00

Starting hourly rate beyond minimum is based on verified related work experience and specified certifications. Please submit resume with application.

Incentives

$5,000 Hiring Bonus

Hiring bonus will be paid out in two equal installments. Fifty percent of the incentive will be paid after ninety days of employment and fifty percent will be paid following the completion of the 12-month probationary period. Probationary employees that voluntarily terminate employment with the County shall repay the net amount of the first bonus installment via a deduction from their annual leave payout and/or remit payment of any remaining balance within thirty days following separation of employment from the County.
