
Nurse Practitioner II - Cardiology Administration - F/T Days

Position Summary
Incumbent manages the care of the Advance Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) patient population across the continuum in collaboration with physicians and other multidisciplinary team members. Provides advanced assessment, planning and coordination of care, modifies the treatment plan, monitors and evaluates outcomes. The Nurse Practitioner provides routine care and management of acute and chronic complaints, and acts as an expert clinician, consultant, educator and leader in cardiovascular patient care management. Maintains a system for coordinating the caseload throughout episodes primarily in inpatient and occasional outpatient settings.
Required Qualifications
Valid CA Nurse Practitioner furnishing number and DEA registration number
Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner
Required skill, knowledge, and ability to perform assigned duties
Current BLS certification (or obtain prior to hire)
Customer-service skills appropriate to the job
Participation in on-call rotation and occasional weekends & evenings
Minimum two (2) years of acute-care experience with VAD/MCS
Minimum two (2) years of critical-care experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Current California RN license
Current California Nurse Practitioner licensure
Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional privileges prior to hire
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
ACLS certification within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications
Specialty nursing certification related to the patient population
Knowledge of University and medical-center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Bilingual in English and Spanish
