Riverside Health is hiring a PRN Occupational Therapist to join our At Home team based in Newport News, VA.
Overview
An Occupational Therapist will perform evaluations, timely re-evaluations and OASIS assessments, determine diagnoses, develop plans of care with updates at appropriate time points, and perform occupational therapy procedures to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, improving health, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disability.
What You Will Do
Perform evaluations, determine OT diagnoses, develop plans of care, and perform occupational therapy procedures to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, improving health, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disability. Evaluate and assess patients timely, based on principles outlined by practice guidelines, evidence‑based guidelines and regulatory standards (state & organizational policies, requirements of accrediting bodies, etc.).
Complete reassessments including OASIS assessments at appropriate time points to determine level of functioning. Update and revise the plan of care in consultation with the physician and interdisciplinary team members.
Provide therapeutic treatments and evaluate equipment needs as applicable. Prepare clinical and progress notes that support skilled interventions and assess outcomes of care. Plan for discharge of patients.
Build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi‑disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Actively participate in multi‑disciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
Coordinate Occupational Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides and services, including completion of required supervisory visit documentation. Participate in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
Carry out treatment plans effectively and modify to maximize therapeutic benefit and meet discharge criteria and return to optimal level of care. Utilize testing results and develop updated plans of care based on principles outlined in appropriate evidence‑based guidelines.

Education
Bachelor's Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required)
Master's Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required)
Doctoral Degree, Occupational Therapy (Required)
Experience
1 year Occupational Therapy experience (Required)
Skills And Abilities
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age, goal, and diagnosis appropriate care.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, ability to assess patients' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data, and ability to interpret information to identify age‑specific needs and provide appropriate care accordingly per patient care setting.
Flexible with daily scheduling and may be required to work various patient care settings.
Licenses and Certifications
License Occupational Therapy (OT) – Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) On hire(Required)
License Occupational Therapy (OTR) – National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Inc (NBCOT) On hire(Required)
CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 days(Required)
Drive personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job.
Valid Driver's License Required
