The Quality Assurance (QA) Technologist coordinates the design, planning, evaluation, and integration of quality assurance for the clinical practice of Imaging.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.

Must possess current licensure as required by the state board where services will be provided: WV - Radiography License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners.

Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience:

Five (5) years of Radiology experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Creates and maintains department-wide quality indicators in support of the Radiology Quality Dashboard.

Integrates industry benchmarks and performs ongoing development of the QA Dashboard to reflect quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.

Acts as the Imaging expert, routinely performing image analysis and implementing image correction processes as needed.

Facilitates the development of staff through performance of image analysis on individual technologists and initiating improvement activities and education as needed.

Plans, designs, evaluates, and integrates the documentation in support of the department’s compliance to all regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the WV Imaging Board, The Joint Commission, and the American College of Radiology.

Creates, gathers, and maintains documentation on productivity and equipment and resource utilization as needed in support of management and operations.

Plans, implements, and educates staff and faculty for compliance while acting as Joint Commission Champion for the department.

Acts as the point-of-contact, and performs on-site equipment testing in conjunction with the medical physicist for quality control testing related to ionizing radiation compliance.

Leads department activities related to Point-of-Care testing, including program development and compliance, staff training, and process troubleshooting.

Acts as the department liaison to Facilities for Environment of Care.

Provides house-wide monitoring and documentation of lead aprons in compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Assesses staff educational needs, develops a plan, implements, and evaluates effectiveness of the plan in conjunction with the performance process.

Maintains staff education and competency in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Demonstrates clinical expertise by serving as a resource and role model technologist.

Maintains confidentiality of all Protected Health Information.

Promotes a team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents, and medical staff.

Engages in problem solving, crisis management, and systems implementation throughout the hospital to promote and support efficient, high quality, cost-effective patient care.

Displays imaging techniques, patient care and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines.

Physical Requirements

Differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.

Stand and walk for 8 hours a day.

Wear a lead apron weighing approximately 8 to 15 pounds for extended periods of time.

Lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds of weight.

Carry items up to 20 pounds.

Working Environment

Work is performed in a normal office environment.

Operate in a fast-paced environment with minimal structure.

Skills and Abilities

Experience in data gathering and manipulation preferred.

Experience with data tools and software (e.g., Excel software) preferred.
