Our client is seeking a highly qualified
Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant
to provide expert lactation care, breastfeeding assessment, and education to patients and families. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive lactation assessment, counseling, and evidence‑based breastfeeding support to patients and families
Educate patients and caregivers on breastfeeding techniques, milk production, infant nutrition, and related topics
Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory compliance standards
Respond calmly and effectively to emergent or urgent patient situations
Serve as a professional resource and advocate for breastfeeding and lactation best practices
Required Competencies
Strong clinical lactation knowledge and breastfeeding assessment skills
Ability to effectively educate and counsel patients and families
Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork skills
Ability to respond calmly and competently in emergency situations
Knowledge of infection control and patient safety procedures
Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Graduate of a college or university accredited by
ACEN
or
CCNE
Experience
Minimum of
one (1) year
of experience within the last
two (2) years
as a Registered Nurse
Two (2) letters of recommendation
written within the last two (2) years attesting to clinical competence * At least
one (1) letter
must be from a physician or nurse practitioner who has personally observed and evaluated the candidate’s clinical skills * Reference letters must include:
