
Operations Finance Intern

Our internship program at Generac is designed to give students a chance to develop their business and technical skills by assisting with ongoing and project related activities within our accounting department. This internship will introduce the candidate to the cost accounting function. The candidate’s time may include activities such as new part product costing, operations reporting and analyzing COGS variances and will support various "continuous improvement" projects. At the conclusion of this internship, the candidate will have a working knowledge of product costing within a multi‑billion dollar public company.
The position is available as a full time internship
on site
during the summer. Additional on‑going hours during the school year will also be considered, depending on candidate preference.
Major Responsibilities
Reviewing new product creations and raw material adds for accurate data and costing
Assist Cost Accounting team with identifying and reviewing purchase price variances (PPV) and driving resolution
Maintain and distribute labor reporting to production plants
Analyze cycle count and scrapping adjustments to ensure accuracy and SOX compliance
Project related work that might include: enhancing the cost roll analysis for our business group partners, producing analysis and contributing to the month end close process for the Cost Accounting team.
Complete other projects as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Microsoft Excel experience
Conscientious, self‑motivated worker with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and in a group setting
Dependable and organized
Preferred Job Requirements
Sophomore year status or higher
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Flexibility to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple demands requiring initiative and independence
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
