Overview
Perform blood draws and specimen preparation with precision and care.
Ensure patient comfort and minimize discomfort during procedures.
Work across diverse demographics, providing high-quality care.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations for safety and hygiene.
Handle specimen labeling, centrifuging, and storage accurately.
Follow physician orders and laboratory protocols meticulously.
Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients.
Attend annual training sessions to stay updated on practices.
Support laboratory operations with administrative tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques.
Label, centrifuge, and store specimens per protocol requirements.
Ensure accurate matching of requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Package specimens for transport while maintaining integrity.
Comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
Update patient information and handle inquiries professionally.
Understand and follow physician orders for laboratory tests.
Participate in department training sessions annually.
Assist with maintaining laboratory equipment and cleanliness.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1 year experience in phlebotomy; 2 years preferred.
Proficiency in specimen collection and preparation techniques.
Bilingual Spanish skills and pediatric experience required.
Ability to float to multiple locations as needed.
Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations for laboratory safety.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills for patient interaction.
Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment.
