Job Overview
Pipe Fitter Trainee – Newport News Shipbuilding. 3‑week unpaid training program (120 hours) followed by full‑time position.
Location / Details
Newport News, Virginia, USA;
Full‑time, multiple shifts; no telework; no relocation assistance; no travel; no security clearance required at start.
US citizenship required.
Responsibilities
Install complex piping systems on naval vessels.
Assemble, weld, and secure pipe, read blueprints and fabricate components.
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair existing pipe systems.
Work in confined spaces, on scaffolds, ladders, and elevated platforms, and in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
Ability to complete the 3‑week unpaid training program.
Pass a background investigation and drug screen.
Pass a physical agility test and lift at least 40 lbs.
Perform tasks involving kneeling, squatting, crawling, bending, stooping, climbing, and operating in tight, confined spaces.
Perform over‑head work, work overtime, and handle any shift schedule.
Be clean‑shaven to wear a respirator and work outdoors year‑round.
