Job Summary
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic performs a wide variety of mechanical repairs and maintenance services on gasoline and diesel-powered heavy equipment to maintain equipment in operational readiness.
Education
High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
Experience
Three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair of heavy equipment involving diesel engines and/or hydraulic systems.
Licenses And Certifications
Must have a Texas Driver's License with a good driving record.
Must have a Texas Vehicle Inspection License.
Must be able to obtain Texas A or B Commercial Driver's License during the probationary period or as required.
Must be able to obtain EPA Section 609 (recovery of automotive refrigerants) License during the probationary period or as required.
Must be able to obtain Air Brakes Coursework or ASE exam T-4 during the probationary period or as required.
Must be able to obtain Truck Steering and Suspension Coursework or ASE exam T-5 during the probationary period or as required.
Other Requirements
Must be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
Requires thorough knowledge of materials, tools, and principles used in the repair of heavy construction, landfill, or emergency fire equipment.
Availability to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.
Salary Range
$24.39 - $27.71
