Engineer – Mechanical
Designs functional, reliable and cost‑effective heavy‑duty vehicle components. Performs engineering analysis and design or re‑design, and develops components into existing and new vehicles.
Your Impact
Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
Under close supervision, work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
Perform and direct the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
Provide non‑complex technical assistance for production support.
Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication.
Minimum Qualifications
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
Standout Qualifications
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy‑vehicle equipment and related systems.
Experience with a high‑level CAD system.
Working Conditions
This role combines office‑based administrative duties with physical activity in field or production environments.
In the office setting, tasks may require extended computer use, sitting, and attending meetings.
Field or floor work may involve walking across various terrains or shop floors, standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.
Must be able to shift focus between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks as needed.

Pay Range
$64,500.00 – $103,500.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s experience, education, and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
