Role Overview

As a Nuclear Lead Mechanical Engineer, you provide technical leadership for the design and development of flow‑control equipment for nuclear and commercial applications. You lead engineering projects from concept through validation, ensuring designs comply with applicable codes, standards and customer requirements; guide engineering teams; support manufacturing and sales; and serve as a technical authority for complex valve solutions.
Responsibilities

Leading the design and development of control valves, safety relief valves, regulators, and related products.
Executing and supervising design, analysis, and evaluation activities using sound mechanical engineering principles.
Creating and reviewing 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation using SolidWorks and related tools.
Reviewing customer specifications and translating requirements into manufacturing and order execution instructions.
Leading and managing project deliverables, schedules, and technical milestones.
Reporting project progress to management and identifying design, cost, or schedule risks.
Ensuring adherence to design review processes, quality standards, and design‑for‑manufacturability best practices.
Preparing and approving bills of materials, drawings, test specifications, and processing instructions.
Supporting manufacturing through material substitutions and non‑conformance disposition.
Collaborating with global engineering teams to support order execution and resolve complex technical issues.
Supporting Sales by providing technical leadership for complex valve applications and customer proposals.
Analyzing field complaints to differentiate between design deficiencies and application issues and implementing corrective actions.
Maintaining in‑depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, EN, ISA, Norsok).
Supporting planning, manufacturing, and sourcing organizations during product fulfillment.
Mentoring and guiding engineers while influencing technical decisions across functions.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in product design, development, or application engineering.
Experience designing control valves or safety valves for nuclear or severe‑service applications.
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
Strong knowledge of ASME BPVC, ASME Section I & III, ASME B16.34, B16.5, and related standards.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
Experience leading projects and influencing cross‑functional teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to customers and leadership.
Working knowledge of SAP ERP and numerical tools such as MathCAD or MATLAB.
