
Counseling Psychologist

Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Director or designee, support the mission of Counseling and Psychological Services and the University in providing the highest quality mental health services for the wide range of students at UCLA. Perform a wide range of complex tasks including counseling and psychotherapy with students; consultation, outreach, prevention and mental health education on campus; emergency services; supervision. Perform, in addition, mental health services within a specialty. Accept overall direction from the Director, or designee, and participate in meetings, committees and carry out necessary charting and data requirements. Act in a manner consistent with the APA code of ethics.

Qualifications
Minimum of three years professional experience in a mental health setting with at least one year in a student counseling or student mental health setting. (Required)
Demonstrated ability to conduct brief psychotherapy and crisis intervention. (Required)
Demonstrated skills in consultation work with professional and non-professional colleagues. (Required)
Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication. (Required)
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and intervene with severely disturbed students. (Required)
Knowledge of applicable laws and ethics pertaining to mental health. (Required)
Required Ability to work with a diverse population. (Required)
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary environment. (Required)
Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Windows, Word. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA approved program and completion of an approved internship.
Licensed for the practice of psychology in California. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
