Gas Distribution Mechanic (A-Tech)
Prevailing wage varies between $70-$90 per hour (No Dues).
This position supports Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange Counties, in New York State.
Monday - Friday, 6:30 am – 2:30 pm with OT available.

Job description: (A-Tech) is required to perform intensive physical construction labor duties such as hand digging while utilizing various tools and methods around all underground utilities for service and main work that is being performed. This will include but not limited to digging trenches and/or ditches, backfilling and compacting in addition to skilled technical work that is related to the installation, maintenance, and operation of natural gas facilities which will be performed under the supervision of a gas foreman. In addition, as an A-Tech it is imperative to have proficient safety skills, quality workmanship and a trustworthy reputation to provide the utmost degree of value in every task that you perform.
Responsibilities:
Assist the crew with the construction and installation of natural gas mains and service lines utilizing various pipe joining methods.
Maintain a high level of expertise in the installation and repair of underground gas facilities.
Operate construction equipment such as Dump Trucks, Loaders, Tampers, Air Compressors, and Fusion equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of all company owned and rented vehicles/equipment operated and perform routine checks on fluids and greases daily.
Have thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working around natural gas, heavy equipment at
ear trenches and all additional safety precautions.
Navigate gas construction standards and O&Ms associated with each task being performed.
Listen, learn and communicate effectively with the project manager, superintendent, foreman or other general laborers to complete tasks and jobs successfully.
Lift/carry materials and perform other duties involving hand and power tools.
Hand dig with a shovel and dig bars.
Work in all types of weather conditions.
Travel to new locations upon request at any time within Central Hudson, Orange, and Rockland counties.
Avoid using a cell phone while working.
Adhere to safety standards as defined by Precision Pipeline Solutions, safety standards and procedures.
Utilize Stop Work/Time Out responsibilities when work conditions change, equipment is improperly used or lack of knowledge for a task.
Pass all NGA A-Tech qualifications required to perform each task.
Qualifications:
Gas Mechanic (A-Technician): Minimum of 2 years gas experience.
Valid driver’s license for at least 1 year.
Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements; lift up to 50 pounds.
Sitting or standing for prolonged periods required.
Effective communication skills and ability to speak clearly with team members.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Act with integrity and respect for personal and public property.
Work in all types of weather.
