Overview
Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full‑time Maintenance Custodian at the Superior Campus.
The Maintenance Custodian plays a key role in ensuring that campus facilities, classrooms, offices, and grounds are clean, safe, functional, and welcoming. This position combines custodial responsibilities, facility maintenance, groundskeeping, and basic repair work. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail‑oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Recognize and properly apply safety procedures relating to job duties
Perform facility security duties in accordance with established procedures, including weekend and holiday building checks
Perform groundskeeping duties
Perform shipping/receiving duties as necessary
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers
Project appropriate image in accordance with dress guidelines
Assist in the development and maintenance of a preventative maintenance program. Identify, report, and take action to solve mechanical problems, mal functions, or safety hazards
Properly maintain, repair, adjust and operate equipment
Operate computerized operational systems related to facility/energy management, including troubleshooting of systems
Comply with college guidelines, policies and procedures in performance of job duties (i.e., forklift training, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials)
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Degree & Experience Required:
Associate's degree (or two years post-secondary education) in related field or equivalent*
Two years related work experience
*Equivalent educational/occupational experience may be a high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Post-secondary training or work experience in facilities and equipment maintenance and repair
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; bend, twist, stoop, and climb ladders on a repetitive basis
Ability to understand technical specifications, blueprints, and manuals
Ability to understand automatic controls, including testing and monitoring
Knowledge and skill in trouble‑shooting facilities maintenance operations and installation/repair of the following systems:
Electrical
Plumbing
Structural
HVAC/R
Ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships and provide excellent customer service
Willingness to work weekends and irregular schedules
Ability to obtain driver's license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy
Salary
FY26 Salary - Grade H - $21.31 / hour
