Job Description
F-35 Aircraft Maintenance Egress Supervisor assigned to NAS Patuxent River’s F-35 Integrated Test Force (ITF). Provides full‑spectrum leadership to the ITF’s Flight Test Maintenance department and coordinates directly with the ITF’s Maintenance Managers for all maintenance activities involving the leadership and management of personnel and resources.

In this role you will oversee training of employees, removal and installation of canopies and ejection seats, inspection of canopy explosive devices, inventory and store management, and replacement of seat Cartridge Actuated Device/Pneumatic Actuated Device (CAD/PAD) explosive items. You will also maintain all aspects of the F‑35 aircraft, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modification, inspection, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Manage general services, repairs, and overhaul of F‑35 aircraft and engines to ensure safe, flight‑ready condition.

Enforce good housekeeping and safety practices in the Development Foundation Contract (DFC).

Direct periodic inspections, general repairs, and modifications requiring replacement or assembly of parts; provide technical assistance as needed.

Create and assign work‑orders in the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS).

Assist in signing aircraft exceptional releases and verifying aircraft safety for flight.

Perform work at heights, including climbing stairs, ramps, ladders, and working stands with fall protection; lift up to 50 pounds as required.

Serve as a US Citizen; position requires special access; deployable to US Naval vessels and across the continental US.

Flexible to support 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts and weekend duty.

Support test planning and coordination with Test Operations, Flight Operations, Air Vehicle Engineering, Logistics, Safety, Quality & Mission Success, GFR/Aviation Performance Team, and NAS Patuxent River base agencies.

Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of hands‑on maintenance experience on aircraft egress/aviation life support equipment.

Experience with removal/installation of fighter aircraft canopies, ejection seats, and CAD/PAD explosive items.

Fighter aircraft maintenance experience on platforms such as F‑35, F‑22, F‑15, F‑16, and F‑18.

Flight‑line and intermediate aircraft maintenance experience.

Experience in modification, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of aircraft and associated systems.

Knowledge of Aircraft Ground Operations Procedures and Aviation Safety.

Experience with the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS).

Leadership experience, including personnel actions (recruitment, staffing, disciplinary actions, performance recognition).

Quality Assurance experience.

Flight Test experience.

Experience managing in a union environment.

Explosives handling certification per OPNAVINST8023.24 (Navy) or MCO8023.3 (Marine Corps).

Completion of AMMO‑18‑DL and/or AMMO‑49‑DL Explosives Handling courses.
