Position Description
The Graduate School of Management (GSM) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is seeking a dynamic and passionate lecturer to teach courses in accounting at the graduate level. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-impact education in this area and will also advise students on career strategies.
Lecturers are selected to fill occasional specialized teaching needs that are part‑time and temporary in nature.
This appointment is renewable contingent on continued departmental teaching needs and demonstration of excellence in teaching.
The courses are taught primarily in person at the main campus of UC Davis. Some sections require teaching on weekends at our remote campuses in Sacramento and San Ramon.
Key Responsibilities
Course development – develop and teach courses that focus on industry‑specific trends, leadership development, networking strategies, and professional growth for undergraduate business students, students in Master’s in Professional Accountancy and Master’s in Management, and MBA students. Responsibilities include course preparation, creating assignments, and designing exams.
Course delivery – foster an inclusive, engaging, and dynamic learning environment with practical exercises and hands‑on projects. Responsibilities include delivering course lectures, grading assignments and exams, and holding office hours outside of class.
Course Descriptions
MGT 402A – Markets and the Firm. Examines the interaction of consumers, firms, and government, and the effect this interaction has on the use of resources and firm profitability.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications: Master’s degree in a relevant area of study, or 10 years or more of relevant work experience.
