Maintenance Mechanic Overview
The Maintenance Mechanics will need an advanced understanding of both mechanical and electrical industrial manufacturing maintenance. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting the overall reliability of metal production equipment such as presses, CNC machines, furnaces, grinders, saws, etc.
Responsibilities
Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Provides data for maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Required Experience
Experience in maintenance mechanic or similar role.
Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, plumbing and code books.
Basic mechanical, welding and cutting skills.
Capability to read mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic prints.
Good problem‑solving skills, safety practices and attention to quality.
Basic workbench and computer skills.
Basic knowledge of relay logic, AC/DC motor drives, PLC & SLC and motor control circuits.
Intermediate knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, plumbing, and code books.
Repair knowledge of pumps, compressors, gear boxes and blowers.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to read applicable instructions.
