Summary
The Senior Corporate Accountant performs responsibilities that include preparing journal entries, account research, reconciliations, and evaluating current procedures. Primary duties include general accounting, reviewing and reconciling balance sheets, and preparing financial statements. The employee understands accounting flows and controls and works according to established policies, procedures, and deadlines.
Responsibilities
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries and corresponding reconciliations.
Review and correct historical balance sheet accounts for all corporate entities.
Reconcile various balance sheet accounts for current activity.
Perform bank reconciliations for various bank accounts.
Calculate monthly interest income.
Create and post A/R invoices into the accounting system.
Create and post necessary journal entries.
Record accruals, prepaids, intercompany transactions, and consolidations.
Review, track, and record investor contributions and distributions.
File sales tax returns.
Administer corporate credit card platform and expenses on a monthly basis.
Post cash activity for all corporate entities.
Assist in clean‑up of inactive or sold projects.
Interact with development, construction, property management, and asset management groups as required.
Provide support to the Assistant Controller, Senior Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer.
Ensure all deadlines are met in accordance with closing dates.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Identify and report fraudulent activity.
Complete all assigned responsibilities accurately and on time.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and two to three years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient in English language, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Knowledge of departmental policies, accounting and auditing principles, and internal control systems.
Familiarity with modern accounting and office procedures and relevant software tools.
Ability to carry out tasks and projects to completion, maintain confidential information, and follow instructions.
Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate subordinates’ work.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with other departments.
Ability to express ideas effectively in writing and orally.
Ability to formulate and use standard accounting methods, procedures, forms, and records.
Ability to maintain complex records accurately and prepare reports under minimal supervision.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
Physical Requirements
Regular walking, stooping, speaking, sitting, hearing, lifting or moving up to 20 pounds, and reaching with hands and arms. Accurate reading and entering numbers, extended computer use required.
Working Conditions
Work performed in a typical office environment, moderately quiet. May require flexible schedule, overtime, or overnight travel as needed.
