Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviours. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.
Job Duties
Prepare correspondence, memoranda, and type essential forms and documents to support the Classification Department.
Maintain inmate files, conduct audits on new inmates, and prepare necessary forms in the Inmate Records area.
Input data into the CDC database, retrieve and print information, and maintain classification documentation.
Receive, date stamp, sort, and distribute mail, and handle, copy, scan, and fax documents.
Provide customer service by answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and performing special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.

Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Must possess a valid driver's license.

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
