
Quality Technician

Overview
The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring that products and processes meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements in accordance with AAR M-1003 quality standards. This role combines technical quality support with hands‑on inspection by performing product and process inspections, maintaining records, and assisting with root‑cause analysis and corrective actions. The Quality Technician also works cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, and quality management to drive continuous improvement in processes and compliance.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Responsibilities
Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records in compliance with AAR and company procedures
Participate in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), contributing to problem‑solving using tools such as 5‑Why and Fishbone
Ensure proper care, calibration, and use of inspection equipment
Perform other duties to achieve overall business unit metrics
Support all aspects of on‑site quality needs by Skokie facility personnel
Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality assurance program and all associated quality documentation and records
Preparation of QA reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations
Monitor process controls and assist in Statistical Process Control (SPC) data collection and analysis
Support training initiatives for operators and inspectors on quality requirements and standards
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and recommend process improvements
Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, hardness testers) to perform dimensional and functional checks
Support the development and execution of quality control plans, inspection check sheets, and test procedures
Assist in internal audits and support regulatory/customer/supplier audits
Perform in‑process, final, and receiving inspections to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and AAR M‑1003 requirements

CMM Programming

Lean manufacturing experience beneficial
Ability to work in a diverse fast‑pace environment
Knowledge/experience working with ERP systems. Oracle desirable
Qualifications / Requirements
High School Diploma or GED is required
Associate’s degree or technical certificate related to position or a combination of college level coursework and relevant work experience desired
4+ years in similar role; Quality preferably in a manufacturing environment
Utilize problem‑solving skills to identify, analyze and rectify quality related problems in a timely efficient manner
Technical skills to operate, calibrate and maintain the equipment used in quality control testing
Proven experience in quality control principles and techniques with a detail orientation and a result‑driven approach
Knowledge of dimensional measurement using various quality instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges and similar devices
Ability to read, interpret and use the information presented in drawings, diagrams and blueprints to determine appropriate next steps in the process
Ability to process basic mathematical calculations
Experience with data analysis, quality control procedures and compliance regulations
Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Good communication skills both verbal and written to deliver findings, discuss issues and provide recommendations to others internally and externally
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and using fine manipulation with the hands. The team member may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist as well as repetitively push or pull frequently up to 20 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds with assistance
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus naturally or with corrective eyewear
This position is performed in an office environment, and as required by job duties, may also require work in a shop environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors. The team member may occasionally be required to work in an office environment
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Pay Range: $29.75 - $38.00
