Overview
The AV Field Engineer is responsible for the closeout and commissioning of complex audiovisual systems. This role ensures proper installation, system quality control, testing, and final calibration of integrated AV solutions. The AV Field Engineer will interface directly with clients, providing system demonstrations, conducting end‑user training, and obtaining final client sign‑off. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot, test, and optimize sophisticated AV environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Testing, Troubleshooting & Optimization
Fully test basic and fully integrated audiovisual systems
Utilize and understand AV testing equipment
Develop and write detailed test and commissioning reports
System Configuration, Downloading & Testing
Configure and test systems using:
Extron products (Medialink, IPLink, TouchLink)
Crestron and AMX control systems
Cisco, Polycom, and Vidyo video‑conferencing systems
DSP platforms including Biamp (Tesira, Audia, Nexia), Polycom SoundStructure, ClearOne Converge/Interact, and BSS Soundweb
Crestron DigitalMedia and AMX Enova systems
Installation Responsibilities
Install and support:
Ceiling and wall‑mounted cameras, speakers, displays (LCDs, plasmas, etc.)
AV cabling infrastructure and equipment racks
Wall plates and AV interfaces (audio, video, and control)
Microphones (ceiling, table, wired, and wireless)
Perform a wide range of terminations including:
Audio connectors
Video connectors
Network connectors
Control connectors
Provide daily status updates via email and/or Procore
Required Skills & Experience
3–4+ years of experience in the audio/visual field or a related technical discipline
C6 License (CT) – Required
Ability and willingness to work overtime as required
Proven experience testing and troubleshooting both basic and integrated AV systems
Ability to build AV racks and read schematics
ICIA CTS Designation – Required
Technical degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Preferred Certifications & Technical Knowledge
Extron AV Associate certification
DSP certifications (Biamp, Polycom SoundStructure, ClearOne, BSS Soundweb)
Basic understanding of Crestron and AMX programming/code
Experience using Crestron Toolbox, SIMPL, NetLinx Studio, or similar tools
Basic understanding of network topology
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail and adherence to process
Experience working with Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb ladders repeatedly
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs unassisted
Ability to lift and install equipment overhead (ceiling installations)
Visual acuity required for precise cable termination
Pay and Benefits
Pay range for this position is $25.00 – $30.00/hr.
