Overview
The Senior Equipment Accountant supports financial operations of the equipment division by ensuring accurate cost accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and GAAP. This role partners closely with the Equipment Operations team and project managers to provide insight into costs, variances, and profitability.
Responsibilities
Manages contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, files, and company policies
Conducts timely and accurate reviews of requisitions and lien waivers
Sets up and properly formats project financial forecasts to meet both internal team and client reporting needs
Manages monthly project forecast meetings and maintains accurate ETCs for labor and expenses
Evaluates change management for reporting inconsistencies
Ensures timely management of accounts receivable and payables
Manages the project financial closeout process
Maintains fixed asset ledgers, depreciation schedules, and capital project tracking
Managing tax reporting for equipment
Liaison between Equipment Managers
Uses formulas, pivot tables and macros to manage and report data accordingly
Assists with accounting research and prepares support for journal entries to ensure financial statements are accurate and complete
Evaluates business process flows for significant accounts, identifying IT systems, reports used, risks, and internal controls from initiation to recording of transactions
Develops and maintains positive professional relationships both internally and externally
Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
Reviews and understands cost proposals
Understands and manages various contract types and delivery methods
Assists the Accounting Manager or Business Controller with monthly Work in Process (WIP) process
Oversees assignments as needed by the business (e.g., overseeing one accountant)
Acts as an Independent Accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate financial risk
Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
CPA preferred
Generally 3-7+ years of accounting experience in construction, manufacturing, or dealership environments
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience with job costing or product-based manufacturing
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to learn construction management and payment management software
Knowledge of the overall project execution process including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost, and project profitability
Knowledge of construction industry insurance products and construction pricing components
Effective communication, listening, and the ability to convey information clearly to various audiences
Commitment to inclusivity and respectful collaboration with diverse perspectives
Problem-solving abilities with the capacity to identify, prioritize, and implement solutions
Adaptability and agility to changing environments, collaborating to achieve successful outcomes
Ownership and accountability for business results

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as internal equity and alignment with the team. The range typically falls between $85,000.00 and $150,000.00, depending on location, plus benefits and retirement program.
