
Financial Accountant

The Accountant - Financial Accounting will assist in preparing monthly and quarterly journal entries and will be a contributor in the preparation of financial statements and analysis of financial reporting results. This position requires knowledge of oil and gas accounting and knowledge of financial reporting and analytics. The Accountant will also be responsible for various types of entries and reports and should have a strong knowledge of general excel functionality and data analysis.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and analyze balances for appropriate transactions
Compile monthly and quarterly journal entries
Assist in preparation and analysis of financial statements
Help produce SEC support and footnotes related to duties assigned
Help prepare schedules as needed for external auditors
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BBA or BS) in accounting
At least (1) or more years of Oil and Gas Accounting Experience
At least (1) or more years of demonstrated experience and ability work in MS Excel, including skills creating and configuring VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Sum IF formulas
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
Proven effective communication of information and work with all levels of the organization
Ability to suggest and implement process improvements to increase effectiveness and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to identify, research, and help to resolve accounting issues
Strong initiative and drive, self-starter, capable of taking actions necessary to rectify problems and improve situations, even those outside this individual's direct responsibility
Strong attention to detailwith ability to pick up on new concepts quickly
Flexible regarding workload and priorities
