Job Title: Senior Accountant
Responsibilities
Reconcile accounts tied to legacy ledgers for hotels and properties, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Perform detailed bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
Conduct pre‑paid reconciliations, validating balances and ensuring proper allocation and amortization.
Apply a solid understanding of debits and credits to analyze and correct accounting entries across multiple accounts.
Diagnose and resolve aged items on balance sheet reconciliations, including researching historical transactions and documentation.
Analyze aging reports and related financial data to identify trends, root causes of discrepancies, and required adjustments.
Use reconciliation and financial close software tools, such as BlackLine and ERP systems, to manage and document reconciliation activities.
Prepare reconciled balance sheets and supporting schedules to ensure they are accurate, transparent, and ready for third‑party review.
Collaborate and communicate with hotel and property teams to obtain clarifications, supporting documentation, and approvals needed to resolve reconciling items.
Support the accounting team in meeting strict deadlines, including completing clean‑up activities in advance of monthly and quarterly closes.
Maintain organized workpapers and documentation that clearly support all reconciliations and adjustments.
Identify process improvement opportunities related to reconciliations and legacy ledger clean‑up and share recommendations with leadership.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on reconciliations and balance sheet work.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Extensive experience performing account reconciliations for complex entities or multiple properties.
Strong bank reconciliation expertise, including identifying and resolving variances.
Solid understanding of debits and credits and how they impact the general ledger and financial statements.
Hands‑on experience with balance sheet reconciliations and resolving aged items.
Proficiency in Excel, including analyzing financial data and using spreadsheets to support reconciliation work.
Ability to interpret and analyze aging reports and other financial data to identify issues and required actions.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to work with internal stakeholders such as hotel and property teams.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple reconciliations simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using BlackLine or similar reconciliation and financial close software is preferred.
Experience with SAP or another ERP system is highly beneficial.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
Prior experience working with hotel, property, or multi‑location accounting environments is advantageous.
Proven ability to work with legacy systems and aged data to clean up and standardize financial records.
Comfort working in a corporate accounting setting with cross‑functional collaboration.
Work Environment
This position is based in a corporate headquarters environment within a facility accounting group. You will work closely with a team focused on preparing accurate and clean balance sheets for review by external third parties. The role is deadline‑driven, with a defined timeline to complete clean‑up activities in advance of a key monthly close. You will primarily work with financial systems such as ERP software (including SAP), reconciliation tools like BlackLine, and Excel for data analysis and documentation. The setting is professional and collaborative, with regular interaction with hotel and property teams to resolve outstanding items and ensure the integrity of financial information.
