What You Will Do
Initiate payroll records based on appropriate documentation, make corrections and deletions, track earnings and employment eligibility, and serve as a resource person on questions related to payroll.
Act as liaison to the Payroll Office and advise students on eligibility and payroll issues.
Provide general and technical support for the student employment program and the Financial Aid Office.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories: College coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months); Associates Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months); 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months); Bachelors Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months).
Work experience performing payroll duties requiring knowledge of standard practices used in the preparation, distribution, and maintenance of payrolls and payroll records.
One (1) year (12 months) of work experience serving as a resource person for a wide range of payroll areas, requiring in-depth knowledge of specialized areas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to operate calculator, adding machine, and enter information on mainframe terminal. Must master complex coding scheme for entering payroll data. Knowledge of all student employment policies and procedures, and general knowledge of Student Financial Aid policies and procedures. Working knowledge of the computerized bi‑weekly payroll system (Banner), the Student Information System (Banner), Cougar Jobline, eprint, argos and LAN station/word processing and spreadsheets. Must be familiar with University policy pertaining to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and student records.
