Job Summary
Payroll Specialist – Full‑time position in the Payroll & HR Systems team. This role is hybrid with 3 days on campus and 2 days remote (subject to change).

Purpose
Assists leaders with PeopleSoft Time & Labor issues and responds to payroll inquiries from Hennepin Healthcare employees. Performs all tasks required in a full‑service payroll office such as garnishment and child support administration, union dues deductions, calculation of retroactive salary adjustments, and the preparation of manual check requests to solve employee payment issues.
Responsibilities
Monitor and process timesheets for employees utilizing Time & Attendance System.
Provide outstanding customer service to staff and leaders by providing timely and accurate feedback to payroll inquiries.
Enter garnishment specifications in the PeopleSoft HCM System and ensure proper, timely handling of court‑ordered wage assignments.
Reconcile child support and all other wage assignment payments to ensure that payments reach the designated vendor.
Audit retroactive salary adjustments and calculate underpayments/overpayments as required and process necessary corrections.
Manage the direct deposit reversal & replacement process.
Manage the void & replacement check process.
Manage the off‑cycle check creation process.
Manage regular audit queries to ensure data integrity and distribute payroll‑related reports.
Manage MetroTransit and PTO for Fitness programs.
Investigate, review and make suggestions for process improvements within the PeopleSoft HCM System that provide maximum benefits of a fully automated payroll system.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of office clerical experience
OR an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Two years of PeopleSoft HR or Payroll experience.
Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional as a plus.
Knowledge of payroll regulatory standards and procedures.
Knowledge of applicable computer system and payroll software programs.
Skill in working independently, multitasking and prioritizing projects to meet deadlines.
