Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
Reports To: Technical Leads Controls
Shift Schedule
Day Shift: 6:00pm-6:30am
Night Shift: 6:00pm-6:30am

Compensation Base Rate
Pay Range: $32 - $42 per hour (starting rate based on previous experience). Shift differential: $2.00 for night shift.

Responsibilities
Manufacture consumer foods that comply with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Understand and support safety policies; recognize unsafe conditions, coach peers, and suggest new safety standards.
Operate and troubleshoot Studio5000 or Logix5000 hardware and software.
Manage Drives and Motion Control.
Use FactoryTalk ME & SE.
Maintain Ethernet/IP Control Network.
Handle power distribution.
Operate, maintain, and clean production equipment.
Follow and improve documented operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a GMP environment.
Perform equipment changeovers and sanitation activities.
Conduct preventative maintenance, work orders, and lubrication; maximize plant equipment performance.
Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
Proficient in operation and troubleshooting of food manufacturing and utility instrumentation.
Operate electrical testing equipment.
Utilize drawings, prints, and manuals to determine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Adhere to drawing and documentation standards.
Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification, and resolution.
Participate in training and qualification programs; maintain consistent qualification standards.
Use continuous improvement tools such as breakdown elimination to eliminate losses and drive issues to root cause; document, communicate, and implement corrective actions.
Own technical, safety, or quality systems; build technician skills and provide ongoing coaching.
Create documentation as needed (SOPs, job aids, PM improvements).
Increase skills via technical training sessions, vendor visits, and scheduled maintenance; attain expertise in advanced E&I technology.
Achieve low voltage qualification within twelve months of start date.
Use a computer to input and maintain accurate records and data; utilize email and online training resources.
Maintain an electronic database of repair and maintenance activities, parts usage, and time tracking.
Facilitate effective shift passdowns, discussing safety, quality, and production issues.
Lead projects to improve safety, quality, or production results in a designated area.
Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to work day shift (6:00am-6:30pm) or night shift (6:00pm-6:30am).
Associate or technical degree or training preferred.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with electrical systems, PLCs, motor and motion controls, SCADA systems, instrumentation equipment for manufacturing required.
Previous mechanical or maintenance experience preferred.
Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to give and receive feedback.
Proficient in computer use and data input.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to perform critical thinking, problem solve, and resolve conflicts.
Physical Demands
Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts days or nights.
Lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
Stand, sit, walk, enter confined spaces, push, pull, kneel, squat, climb.
Perform repetitive actions, reach, and feel.
Vision Requirement
Minimum 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without corrective lenses; must pass standard eye exam.
Safe Performance Requirements
Ability to perform essential job functions consistently with safety standards and practices.
Work Environment
Willing to work 12‑hour shifts and overtime as needed.
2‑2‑3 schedule, days or nights.
Willing to work a flexible schedule as needed.
Willing to travel for training.
Working knowledge of general electrical safety.
Working knowledge of electrical schematics, power distribution, controls, motor controls, PLC logic, HMI.
Ability to provide leadership and priorities in designated equipment area.
Set and meet goals.
Prioritize and manage workload in a changing environment.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Collaborate with support personnel to maintain safety, quality, reliability, and drive improvements.
Make data‑driven decisions and engage others as appropriate.
Basic math, statistical, and analytical skills.
