IMC is currently hiring a

Telemetry Tech , who under the general supervision of the Unit Director and the authority of the Director of Nursing, monitors the cardiac rhythms of patients in CCU and other floors/departments. They demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to interpret monitors based on related criteria for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

EDUCATION

Job requires graduation from high school and current CPR certification (preferred). EKG Course preferred, however may be waived if the employee can pass the pre‑employment EKG interpretation exam with a minimum score of 80%.

Training/Experience

Job requires no previous experience although related hospital experience is desired. The employee will complete an orientation program to prepare them for independent direct patient care within thirty (30) days of hire. Computer experience is helpful, as the job involves order entry into the computer.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Basic EKG rhythm interpretation is necessary. Computer knowledge is helpful for order entry. The job requires creative thinking and judgment, as decisions must be made on a variety of patient EKG recordings. The telemetry tech must notify nurses of the potential need to initiate immediate measures to counteract an unfavorable condition.

Principle Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities

Demonstrates respect for patients and families.

Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care.

With the patient and family, systematically and continually assesses the patient’s health.

Applies the nursing process to each patient and implements nursing actions.

Identifies patient and family education needs and, in collaboration with other disciplines, initiates education according to the age of the patient.

Assesses, collaborates, and coordinates in planning of patient discharge needs and readiness.

Participates in departmental and hospital improvement plans.

Functions as a positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center.

Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient and organizational data.

Consistently lives by Iberia Medical Center’s Standards of Performance.

Adheres to the Patient Safety Goals.
