Job Description
The Storage Administrator is a key member of the infrastructure team, responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise-grade storage and backup solutions. This role is designed for a developing professional who possesses a solid foundation in SAN/NAS technologies and is eager to scale their expertise in a high-performance environment. You will work closely with Senior Engineers to provision storage, ensure data integrity, and manage the lifecycle of multi-vendor storage arrays and backup libraries.
Responsibilities
Perform routine storage provisioning (LUN creation, masking, zoning) and filesystem management (exports/shares).
Conduct daily health checks across storage arrays and backup environments to identify and remediate potential hardware or performance issues.
Function as the first point of contact for storage-related performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and backup failures.
Monitor and manage scheduled backup jobs; assist with data restoration requests and tape library management.
Maintain accurate records of storage allocations, rack diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Actively participate in vendor training and cross-training sessions to master new storage platforms and emerging data technologies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 to 12 years of related experience
Solid understanding of SAN (Fibre Channel, iSCSI) and NAS (NFS, SMB/CIFS) protocols.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve basic hardware, connectivity, and software issues within a data center context.
Familiarity with the concepts of RPO/RTO, incremental vs. full backups, and the importance of data retention policies.
A proactive "willingness to learn" attitude with the ability to take ownership of new tasks as the environment evolves.
Active/Current CompTIA Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP, or equivalent baseline certification.
Ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility and maintain program access as required
U.S. Citizenship required; Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility including successful completion of a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph within 6 months of hire date
Preferred Qualifications
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI and a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph
NetApp Certified Storage Associate (NCSA) or similar vendor-specific credentials.
Hands-on experience with DDN (EXAScaler), NetApp (ONTAP), Spectra Logic(BlackPearl/T950/Cube), and/or VAST Data.
Veritas NetBackup (policies, storage units, and catalog management).
Demonstrated experience with HPC Clusters.
Proficiency in Linux (RHEL/CentOS) command line for storage mounting and troubleshooting.
Nutanix, KVM, Citrix, or similar.
