SUMMARY
Optometric Technician provides a world‑class total patient experience by aiding the optometrist and performing initial testing using optical equipment. The role is based at 2030 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
Practice urgency at all times, valuing a patient’s and doctor’s time and schedule.
Operate manual lensometer, auto‑lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field, GDX, or OCT.
Follow scripting for testing equipment (photos, visual fields, visual activity, etc.).
Clean all examination equipment, including tonometer tip.
Interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner at all times.
Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by manager.
Consistently create a positive work environment by being team‑oriented and patient‑focused.
Commit to work hours that meet business needs, including weekends, schedule changes, or extended schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.
Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers or patients, or equivalent education and experience.
Positive background check result as required by state.
Proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required.
LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS
None.
SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
LOCATION
Work is primarily performed in a standard office or clinical setting. Travel to other locations may be required to carry out essential job duties and responsibilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%) with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.
Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology.
Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment—required 100 % of the time.
Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
