Why You’ll Love This Position
The Office of Special Investigations Unit, within the Department of Health and Senior Services, is seeking an experienced criminal investigator to join our dymantic team. The goal of this investigator is to conduct criminal investigations related to allegations of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation involving the elderly and disabled citizens in Missouri. In this position, the investigator has statutory authority to work these investigations independently or in conjunction with law enforcement. When probable cause exists that a crime was committed, the investigator will collaborate directly with the appropriate prosecutor’s office to recommend charges be filed. This is a great opportunity to utilize investigative skills and seek justice to protect the elderly and disabled in Missouri. The State of Missouri offers great benefits, a flexible work schedule, and 13 paid state and federal holidays.
The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
Responsibilities
Identify and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
Compile, analyze, evaluate, and preserve facts, statements, affidavits, and other evidence.
Provide testimony in court and/or administrative proceedings.
Maintain a positive working relationship with law enforcement, prosecutors, Home and Community Based Service providers, other state agencies, and community entities.
Travel within a multi-county coverage area to include Jackson and adjacent counties as needed in response to assigned cases, attend or provide presentations/trainings.
Hours of this position will be Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; overtime hours may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Criminology, Business Administration, social sciences, environmental sciences, or a closely related field (substitutions may apply).
Two or more years of civil, administrative, or criminal investigative (non‑clerical) experience (e.g., tax fraud, licensing, environmental, client care, public assistance, insurance, or military); or experience as a law‑enforcement officer with responsibility for conducting investigations.
Missouri P.O.S.T. certification preferred.
Lack of post‑secondary education will not be used as the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.
The State of Missouri offers an excellent benefits package that includes a defined pension plan, generous amounts of leave and holiday time, and eligibility for health insurance coverage.
