The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the quality control and assurance functions to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements across all operations. This role drives a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and zero-defect manufacturing to exceed customer expectation while ensuring full compliance with AS9100, AS13100, and all customer-supplementary requirements as well as applicable regulatory standards.
This leader partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Supply Chain to reduce variation in process, improve first time yield and compliance, strength process capability, and enhance overall product reliability and customer satisfaction through the use of industry leading tools and processes such as continuous improvement.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the AS9100-certified Quality Management System
Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and statutory requirements
Own document control, internal audits, management review, and corrective/preventive action systems among other key quality functions
Serve as primary interface for external audits (customers, registrars, NADCAP)
Maintain and ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements (e.g., Boeing, Honeywell, GE)
Act as Management Representative for the QMS
Ensure inspection and test plans meet contractual and engineering requirements
Drive reduction of internal and external defects (scrap, rework, escapes)
Lead root cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
Implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness
Execute on key initiatives to stabilize and improve upon key quality KPIs (PPM, FPY, COPQ, audit findings)
Serve as primary point of contact for customer quality issues and audits
Lead responses to customer complaints, SCARs, and corrective action requests
Build and maintain strong customer relationships through transparency and performance
Ensure robust inspection processes including first article inspection (FAI) per AS9102 as well as customer supplementals such as PPAP
Oversee calibration systems and metrology lab operations
Ensure appropriate use of SPC, CMM, and other inspection technologies
Lead and develop the Quality team (engineers, metallurgists, technicians)
Promote a proactive quality culture focused on prevention rather than detection
Train organization on quality standards, procedures, and best practices
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes to meet company and regulatory standards.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for non-conforming materials, processes, and products.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve product reliability.
Lead or support audits (internal, external, and supplier) to ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, or other applicable quality standards.
Develop and maintain quality documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality control plans.
Utilize Six Sigma, Lean, or other methodologies to improve quality performance and reduce variability.
Train and mentor junior quality engineers and production staff on quality standards and best practices.
Monitor and report key quality metrics to leadership, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
7–10+ years of quality leadership experience in aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing
Deep knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements
Experience with NADCAP special processes (heat treat, NDT, destructive testing, etc.)
Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability
Experience leading audits and interacting with customers and.
Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and data analytics (Minitab, JMP, or equivalent).
Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with GD&T, FMEA, and process validation.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
High level of initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
PREFERRED SKILLS

ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM, or equivalent)
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
Experience in forging, machining, or complex metal manufacturing
Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and digital quality tools

Reduction in customer submittals and deviation requests
On-time closure of corrective actions
Increased first pass yield (FPY)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable working in a manufacturing facility with exposure to high temperatures.
Ability to stand, kneel, or crouch as needed.
Occasional travel may be required for supplier audits and off-site visits.
