Job Summary:
Cinder Residuals Texas is seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to join our Fairfield, TX team. Positioned above the Journeyman role, the Technician is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of plant instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems. This role serves as a technical expert for complex systems and supports both day‑to‑day operations and longer‑term reliability improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation loops, VFDs, and plant control systems
Lead preventive maintenance efforts for assigned systems and recommend improvements
Maintain accurate technical documentation (loop sheets, panel layouts, calibration records)
Assist in system upgrades, automation improvements, and equipment modifications
Mentor Journeymen and Apprentices, providing training and technical guidance
Coordinate with Supervisors on planning outages, projects, and major repairs
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry codes (NEC, NFPA 70E)
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and engineers as needed for specialized support
Support other Site Operations at the request of Supervisor or Plant Manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred
5+ years of industrial I&E experience in maintenance, installation, or repair including advanced troubleshooting and calibration
Proficiency with PLC programming basics (Allen‑Bradley preferred) and HMI configuration
Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, electrical distribution, and control logic
Skilled with diagnostic tools including multimeters, calibrators, and software‑based interfaces
Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills; ability to mentor junior staff
Valid driver’s license required
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is performed in an industrial facility, including time in control areas and field conditions with exposure to noise, dust, heat, outdoor elements, and operational hazards
May involve standing or sitting for extended periods, bending, climbing, using hand tools, and working around heavy equipment or machinery
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights or in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks
Use of communication devices or computer systems may be required, depending on job function
PPE must be worn and all safety protocols followed
