Job Description
HII’s Mission Technologies division is dedicated to delivering cutting‑edge solutions that advance national security and defense objectives. We are actively looking for a SQL Database Administrator for our Cyber and Intelligence division. The role supports Enterprise‑Level Security and Modernization efforts across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and personnel operations. The selected candidate will contribute to a high‑impact government program focused on enhancing and securing mission‑critical systems and environments. The program is scheduled to launch in early 2026 and requires an active TS/SCI security clearance.
Salary Range for this role based on level:
Database Administrator 2: $85,000 - $125,000
Database Administrator 3: $120,500 - $155,000
Database Administrator 4: $145,200 - $195,000
Essential Job Responsibilities
Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.
Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases.
Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and recommend enhancements and/or improvements.
Maintain security and integrity controls.
Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, monitor transaction activity and utilization, and develop stored procedures and/or triggers as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience, OR
Master’s degree in a related field and 1+ years of experience, OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 7+ years of relevant experience.
5+ years of hands‑on systems administration of Microsoft SQL Server (2016–2022) and enterprise server applications, specializing in Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
3+ years of experience managing SQL Server integrated within a Microsoft Active Directory domain and forest, including service account security (gMSAs), Kerberos constrained delegation (SPNs), and DNS/DHCP configurations for multi‑subnet clusters.
Experience applying and maintaining a standard security configuration based on SRGs and STIGs.
Minimum active TS/SCI required to start. Candidate must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a CI Poly once selected.
Must have current Sec+ (or applicable) certification or be willing to complete certification within 90 days of starting employment.
Preferred Requirements
SQL Server formal training or vendor certifications from Microsoft (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate).
Formal training or vendor certifications for applications and technologies such as Citrix, Splunk, SolarWinds, ServiceNow.
Experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB.
Previous experience with automated deployment tools and approaches (e.g., Ansible).
Current CI Poly.
Physical Requirements
May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
