This role is for a lawyer who can take ownership of matters, exercise sound judgment, and help clients navigate disputes from pre-suit strategy through litigation, arbitration, mediation, and resolution.
This is not a generic high-volume appearance role. The attorney will be expected to work across a range of contested matters, including civil litigation, contractual disputes, regulatory/compliance-related disputes, labor and employment matters, and asset-related disputes. Develop case strategy, factual theories, and legal arguments
Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court proceedings, as appropriate
Advise clients on dispute risk, legal exposure, and practical litigation strategy
Manage discovery, document review, written responses, and case deadlines
Support matters involving contractual disputes, business disputes, regulatory/compliance issues, labor and employment disputes, and asset-related disputes
Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other relevant parties
Maintain high professional standards, strong judgment, and organized case management across active matters
What we are looking for:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active DC or Maryland bar license and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Meaningful litigation experience with the ability to work independently
Strong legal writing, research, and motion practice skills
Experience handling contested matters, negotiations, and dispute resolution processes
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a remote environment
Clear communicator with strong client-facing judgment
Comfortable operating as a 1099 independent contractor
Preferred background:
Experience in civil and commercial litigation
Experience with mediation, arbitration, and dispute resolution outside of court
Exposure to employment/labor disputes, compliance-related matters, or business/contract disputes
Strong strategic thinking and ability to assess matters pragmatically
Trial preparation experience is a plus
Compensation:
Compensation is based on a percentage of fees actually collected by the firm on matters handled by the attorney. This includes participation in collected hourly, flat-fee, and success-fee matters. This is not a salaried role and is not commission in the traditional sales sense; it is a fee‑participation structure tied to legal work performed.
Target earnings:
Approximately $100,000 to $250,000+ annually, depending on experience, workflow, and matters handled.
Work arrangement:
Part‑time, Remote, Flexible arrangement for the right candidate.
