
Hyperbaric Operations- Licensed Practical Nurse Preferred

Reporting to the Program Director, the Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider, ensuring safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chamber(s) and support systems.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
Prepare, educate, and orient patients about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed, monitor equipment performance and patient responses, and adjust settings for safety and effectiveness.
Record data for daily treatments and wound care visits, keeping complete and accurate patient records including photo uploads.
Operate and maintain the hyperbaric chamber and associated support systems.
Assist in vein clinic as assigned after training completion.
Participate in safety program activities such as drills.
For authorized CMA or LPN, serve as Documentation Assistant (scribe) as per policy.
Perform other duties as required.
Required Education, Experience and Credentials
High School Diploma or GED.
Current healthcare professional certification or license applicable in state of practice (must be maintained throughout employment). Options include: Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Military Corpsman or Medical Services Specialist, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic, Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS), Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN), Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT), Certified or Licensed Nursing Assistant (CNA or LNA), Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist (CHWS), Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant (PT or PTA), or completion of Hyperbaric Training from US Department of Defense (DOD) such as US Navy, Army or Coast Guard Diver, or US Air Force Aerospace Physiology Specialist.
For Ohio, current Ohio license as RN, LPN/LVN, Respiratory Therapist, or Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) approved by NBDHMT.
Complete Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course pre‑or post‑hire, approved by relevant boards.
Minimum of two years’ experience in healthcare preferred.
Prior experience in wound or critical care preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification, maintained throughout employment.
Competencies in hyperbaric equipment and system troubleshooting.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Basic math, organization, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
Customer service and follow‑up skills; ability to calm and relax patients.
Knowledge of wound‑management software preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Physical Demands
Stationary position for extended periods (4+ hours).
Frequent computer use (4+ hours).
Movement, lifting/moving items up to 75 pounds with assistance, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping.
Detection of sounds by ear.
Communicating requirements (vision, hearing, reaching).
Work Environment
Primarily indoors and in patient care settings.
Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, toxic chemicals, flammable gases, mechanical equipment, moving objects, electrical current.
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $23.54 and $29.39 per hour. This range is an estimate based on qualifications such as education, experience, geography and operational needs, and is in accordance with applicable law.
