RECREATION THERAPIST (BA)

Responsibilities

Gulf Coast Treatment Center is currently hiring for the Recreational Therapist position and must work every Saturday throughout the month. The Recreational Therapist is responsible for the provision of therapeutic recreation to the adjudicated youth population. The Therapist maintains a facility-wide schedule for recreational activities that promote life and social skills, sportsmanship, reviews individual or group activities and community outing trips. The Therapist assists in orienting the youth to the value of an appropriate lifestyle, educating them about leisure resources in the community, assesses youth recreational needs through interview and recreation questionnaire, develops and delivers recreational programming, and maintains the program through supervision of its delivery. The Therapist establishes treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual and/or group needs of the youth population, instructs youth on proper use of equipment and supplies used in recreational activities, attends treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, and assists in planning goals and objectives for each youth. The Therapist prepares requests for supplies and equipment along with relevant work orders and submits them to the Clinical Director.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or a related degree such as Art or Music
Must be able to pass level II background screening
