Job Summary
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13‑week Inpatient Rehabilitation (IRF) travel contract in Madison, Wisconsin. The position requires at least 1 year of nursing experience in a skilled care environment and proficiency with Epic EMR.
Assignment Overview
Start Date: May 12, 2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Hours: 36 per week (12‑hour day shifts 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM; night shift 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM is also available)
Shift pattern: 3 × 12‑hour days
Work schedule: Every other weekend required with holiday rotation; on‑call responsibilities required
Patient ratio: 1:7
Facility: 50‑bed acute inpatient rehabilitation on the east side of Madison
Specialized programs: stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehabilitative services
Equipment: ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards, vital sign machines, EKG machine, BGM
Requirements
Active Wisconsin or Compact RN license
Current AHA BLS certification
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a skilled nursing or 24/7 skilled care environment
Med‑Surg or inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred due to patient acuity
Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility
Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
Cannot be employed full‑time elsewhere

CARF‑accredited for Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke Specialty Programs; also accredited by the Joint Commission
Contract duration: 13 weeks
Local candidates are not accepted
All nurses are expected to assist CNAs and respond to call lights as needed for patient safety
Compensation
