Responsibilities
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at The Grove @ Poplar Springs – 321A Poplar Drive, Petersburg, VA.

The CNA will assist in providing safe, effective patient care under the direction of the Program Director/Manager and Unit Charge Nurse. Responsibilities include direct patient care, use of functional health care (HWC), CPR, and toileting techniques; mentoring new hires and students; performing administrative duties; acting as a role model; and communicating verbally and in writing with patients and staff.

Hours will vary; applicants must be flexible with their availability.

Qualifications
Position Requirements:

Demonstrate competency in the specified criteria and flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations, including children, adolescents, and adults.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Valid driver’s license in good standing (preferred)

CPR certification (offered on-site, preferred)

Handle With Care certification (offered on-site, preferred)

Active CNA license (required)

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred

General Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age

Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm

Good communication skills; must read, write, speak, and understand English

Basic clerical skills; basic experience with office equipment; computer skills helpful

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions

Problem‑solving ability and openness to feedback

Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning

Skills:

Knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology preferred, including therapeutic relationships, age‑specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management
